BULLET ATHLETE BENJAMIN GOETHE SIGNS WITH BELGIAN AUDI CLUB TEAM WRT FOR GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE ENDURANCE CUP

15.07.20 - Bullet Sports Management driver Benjamin Goethe is returning to the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup this year, this time contesting the Silver Cup class of the world’s most competitive GT3 series with multi-championship-winners Belgian Audi Club Team WRT in its ROFGO-liveried Audi R8 LMS GT3.

Benjamin, who is currently studying with Millfield School in the United Kingdom, was presented with the SRO Merit Award for his performance in the 2019 Blancpain GT Series (the former name of the GT World Challenge Europe) aged just 16-years old. Next week, he returns to the series to contest the Silver Cup class but this time alongside his long-term coach and mentor Stuart Hall (GB), who won the 2013 World Endurance Championship Am class title, and Dutch driver Rik Breukers.

“Last year was a huge challenge for me but one that I grabbed with both hands,” commented Benjamin who is a ROFGO Junior driver. “The Blancpain GT Series, as it was called, is regarded as really tough so it was a sink or swim situation... I’m pleased to say that I’m still swimming! This year feels a bit strange but I’m sure once we get to the track and get into the car, we’ll just jump straight back into professional mode.”
As part of the four-round series, Benjamin will make his debut in the world-famous 24 Hours of Spa, which he missed last year. His podium-finishing success in the Barcelona 24 Hours and Abu Dhabi 12 Hours will act as good experience for the event, which has been moved to October this year.

“Spa will be an amazing experience – the weather will be challenging in October and there will be a lot of hours of darkness, but I can’t wait to take part in the biggest GT3 race in the world. I’ll work with my team-mate and coach Stuart [Hall], and the team at Bullet, to make sure I’m as prepared as possible for the season ahead. Driving for a successful team like WRT is a huge honour and I’m looking forward to challenging for class podiums with them.”

WRT Racing have had huge success in the SRO-run endurance series. In fact, the Belgian team took the teams’ championship title in 2014 and, in 2015, secured the team’s title, Pro-Am class win and overall drivers’ title. Benjamin is the second of two Bullet drivers to be announced as driving with WRT Racing following Ferdinand Habsburg’s signing to its DTM programme.

“Benjamin has proven he’s a mature driver able to deal with the pressure and competition that comes with this series,” commented Bullet Director Nic Minassian. “Last year, he was very much finding his feet in the GT3 car and in the championship but this year he goes into it with a lot of experience and confidence behind him. The GT World Challenge Europe Silver Cup class has some of the best up and coming talent in the world, so the competition is tough… but Benji is hardworking, focused and quick to learn so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can achieve.”

Nine GT3 cars will contest the Silver Cup class of the GT World Challenge Europe, which gets underway on 25/26 July. While spectators are not permitted at the event, fans can watch the races at www.bulletsportsmanagement.com/live.
